The Road Less Travelled part 1
In 2019, I embarked on a life-changing journey. I followed in the footsteps of Jack Kerouac and went on a solo epic adventure across America writing songs on a miniature guitar, healing a broken heart.
I travelled 2400 miles on the California Zephyr, from Chicago to San Francisco, then drove 1700 miles around California writing songs and poems. It was a journey full of synchronicity, creativity, connection and awakening, and became the seed of an idea for a 10 track album and book.
The Road Less Travelled film is a snapshot of the trip and the story behind the song 'Home Is Your Shoulder'. It began in Fort Mason Park after visiting Alcatraz in the morning, and was finished next day at Fort Point.
The music video footage is courtesy of Space Race Studios, who perfectly captured the empty streets of San Francisco in lockdown and features the beautiful mural of Greta Thunberg, created by Argentinian street artist Andres Petreselli.
Both the video and accompanying film were created by my sister, filmmaker Samantha Elmhirst.
